Your basic kit for grooming your dog at home should include a soft slicker brush, a comb having both coarse and fine teeth, an oil based conditioner which is generally applied before brushing your dog. And of course mats comb to loosen the hair. Trim your dogs toe nails every two to three weeks. Teach your dog to stand still and to offer his paw every time you take out the clippers. Dog grooming requires you to check a problem sometimes seen on the nails of the dog. It has a nerve and blood supply. When you try to take this out, your pet may bleed.

Take your dog to the vet or a professional groomer who will be able to handle this problem gently. Dog grooming routines involve you to ensure your dogs paw to check whether nothing is stuck between his pads. Sometimes pebbles, sand or seeds from grass can get stuck leading to infection.
