Examining The Reasons Why Universities Are Purchasing Contract Furniture For Student Union Bars
Historically student union bars, or SU bars as they are commonly referred to, have been quite run down and dingy affairs. This has changed in recent years as universities have realised that the social life that can be offered is a key factor for students when they are making their choices. This has meant that many universities are now looking to purchase contract furniture.
Increasing budgets
In an attempt to modernise their SU bars many universities have vastly increased their budgets. The result is that some SU bars at the largest universities are staggeringly big. In order to finish these impressive venues off it is important that the right furniture it bought.
Setting the scene
Most people will most commonly associate contract furniture with settings such as hospitals and care homes. Yet the kind of items that are produced by contract furniture manufactures are suitable for use in pub and club environments. Universities with their eye on the ball have realised that this kind of furniture offers a great solution for providing quality and durable furniture.
A one stop solution
Not only do contract furniture manufacturers offer stools to go in bar areas, they also provide more comfortable seating such as sofas and armchairs. As a result universities are able to buy furniture for the lounging areas and bar areas from the same provider, meaning a saving on cost.
The impact on student social life
The movement of bringing SU bars up to date with contract furniture has seen a big change in the social life of many students. Whereas in the past the SU bar would traditionally be used as a meeting point to have a few drinks before moving on, more and more students are now spending their whole evenings there.
