Heartworm medicine - the disease vector known as a mosquito

The parasite known as Dirofilaria immitis is what causes heartworm disease. Heartworm disease is now as common as McDonald's, but it was once known as prevalent only in the US.
Where to start then?
We begin with a buzzing insect that is a pest in itself, the mosquito.
Suppose that mosquito bites into a heartworm-infected animal.
Microfilariae pass into the mosquito that way, through the bite. Give it between ten to twenty-eight days, and the passenger Microfilariae matures just enough.
That's when larvae come to mature and passes into the new host pet's heart. The heart is where it happens - in it the worms produce microfilariae.

For cats and dogs the time table for production of microfilariae, after infection, is a bit different - six to even months in dogs, and around eight months in cats.
