For anyone doing photography, after children, their preference would land at pets. The perfect picture of your pet can be achieved using these tips. Standard lenses can give good pictures too however for ease of shooting pets one must use a longer telephoto lens of 80 to 200mm size.

To prevent scaring off the pet, one needs to stand far away, and to get good pictures from there one would need a telephoto lens. By avoiding interference to the pet's attention, we can get a natural photo. Getting a good picture of a pet is possible by going down to his level. Being on our hands and knees is the only way to get good pictures since most pets are smaller than us. Getting the pet to look straight into the lens would ensure a nice picture. TO get a picture of your pet you must be ready and quick. Being ready is achieved by presetting the exposure and pre focusing the animal. Focusing again or resetting the metering should not be done.

When shooting pets, exposure isn't one of the worries. Simply use the camera on automatic or set the exposure recommended by the light meter in your manual camera. Bracketing is essential for clicking very dark or white animals.
