Pet Doors - What Pet Owners Should Know

It's not a luxury for some pet owners to have pet doors installed in their home, despite what some may think. It's a very real need, especially for owners with troublesome pets. If you have one dog that keeps trying to get out, you might be kept up all night by its whining. If you have a yard it can play on when supervised, it might want to keep going there. Multiply that annoyance when you have many pets, and you can imagine why a pet door is not a luxury.

Because you want to avoid indoor potty accidents, if possible

Getting cabin fever, is seems, is something that's not limited to people. Pets can feel it, too, and intensely at that. Even after pets have marked their territory with the scent of their pee, they may end up marking every other nook that doesn't smell like their own. That's a lot of cleaning up that you could avoid had your pet not been holed up for so long indoors. You'll laundry basket may smell like pet pee. So will your lower bookshelves. It gets worse - if your computer's CPU is on the floor beside your desk, that too might get peed on.

You furniture will get scratched - it's fact of life with cabin-feverish pets

Even if you can't always tell what pets do outdoors, you'll quickly get an idea what they're suppose to do outdoors when they keep doing that indoors, with you paying the price. Let's move on to the potty accidents section. This time, let's go over your furniture, or what other valuable, fragile devices and installations you may have indoors. It doesn't matter if you already set up a good scratching post for them - they'll scratch anywhere else just the same. Pulled down, clawed out curtains, and an assortment of other woes - expect to see these all over.

Tumbled over, broken items - expect to see these when you get home

If cats can leap suddenly on your lap, they can just as suddenly leap on to higher places. Such as on the table and on to higher book shelves. Don't leave unwashed dishes and not tightly capped bottles or you'll find them rummaged through or spilled when you get home. A book or six will be on the floor, too. One vase, maybe two, will be on the floor not in their pristine form. That expensive lampshade was probably not meant to live with a cabin-fevered pet. There should be a warning when buying fragile breakable items: warning, this may not survive a bored pet.

You need to let your pet have fun and be as free as it can be, by getting a pet door. You will be thankful for buying and installing a pet door, just to avoid all these clean ups. If you have a big house or a garden, that means your pets can have more space to round around in and have fun. So that means you may need not just one but a couple of pet doors.
