Trying to decide what is best for your pet may be a tricky decision to make. How do you know if boarding or pet sitting is better for your pet?

There are many different choices here in Fort Mill for pet sitters or boarding facilities. But that does you no good if you don’t know what will be good for your pet. Here are a few things to take into consideration when trying to decide.

Hyper or Lazy?
Believe it or not, your pet’s activity level plays a large part in what will be better for him while you’re away. If your dog loves to play, run, meet other dogs and seems to never stop, a boarding facility may be the best bet for him. It will give him a chance to make new friends, play all day and socialize as he likes. If your dog is more interested in lying on the couch with a tasty bone and some reruns on his favorite animal channel, a pet sitter may be just what he wants.

A hyper active dog is not going to enjoy being home by himself all day long and a lazy dog is not going to enjoy all the noise and activity of a boarding facility.

Age is Just a Numberâ€or Is It?
We all know that a 3 year old dog can act just as goofy as a 4 month old but there’s more to it than that. If you have a new puppy that has not yet had a chance to adjust to the house properly, leaving him home alone for hours may cause him to develop destructive behaviors that you cannot break. Boarding him will give him a chance to socialize and have routine potty breaks to further housetrain him while you’re away.

On the other hand, an older dog may not do as well being boarded. He is already used to the sounds, smells and familiar surroundings of his home. Taking him away from all of those may stress him out and make his â€vacation†terrible. A pet sitter coming in to have some playtime, potty breaks, feeding and extra love and attention may fit him better.
