Building a dog house is not easy, but it isn’t rocket science, either. You can certainly do this--if you work hard at it. Basically, there are 3 things you should NEVER do:

1. Never use hardwood
2. Never use white furniture
3. Never use toxic materials

By keeping this in mind, you can avoid problems in the future.

Now that we are done pointing out the no-no’s, it is time we work on an interior dog house plan that your dog will find irresistible. The secret: style. There are about 4 ways you can do to make your pet’s home as stylish as possible. Take a look at ideas below.

1. Sofas

Adding a sofa to his home would surely be a nice thing to do. Well, you might argue that a dog does not need one, but if you may have noticed, your dog loves to sleep on plush cushions in your home. So, why not give him one of his own? You can use a suede microfiber or leather which is an easy material to use especially when removing stains. You can also place a piece of cloth underneath the sofa cover to avoid discoloration. It is advisable not to use velvet as this will hold on to fur and hair.

2. Floors

You can utilize tiles as flooring as this can be ideal to avoid scratches. Hardwood, as mentioned, should not be used because it easily gets dirty and prone to scratching. You can simply cover the tiles with a nice cool rug, which you can mix and match with the interior of the dog house. If you are not comfortable with the idea of using tiles, you can resort to concrete or slate.

3. Furnishings

When you are planning on putting furniture, you may want to consider the age of your pet. If he is still very young (pup), avoid wood as they tend to bite and destroy it. However, if he is mature enough, then you can use it without a problem.

4. Walls

If your dog is very active and enjoys playing around, the walls of the dog house could easily get damaged. It could also be stained and paint could be scratched off. For this reason, you may want to use eggshell, semi-glossy, or satin paint which are not only stylish, they are also very easy to clean.
